Hebrews 6:6
IF
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. (Hebrews 6:6)
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. (Matthew 4:3)
The devil likes to throw ‘ifs’ around, he likes to throw doubt around; just ask Adam and Eve about what transpired (as documented) in Genesis Chapter 3. It was the serpent, that old serpent, the Devil who brought malicious doubt into the garden. Why was it malicious? because of the mindset of the Devil, it was his deliberate rebellion and enmity against the Almighty God. Lucifer was still smarting from his own dethronement as the glorious cherub. (Isaiah 14:12-17) He was cast down to the ground as a preliminary judgment which will be concluded at his last judgment when God will cast him into the lake of fire. Satan is the doubt promoter, all through Scripture he raises up men of doubt to overthrow the work of God. One example: when Moses and Aaron stood before Pharaoh there were two ministers of Satan who tried to overthrow and discredit the work of God; their names were Jannes and Jambres. (1 Timothy 3:8) (Exodus 7:11)
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, it is Satan who is the great promoter of doubt, however, we have a great fighter who erases and defeats every doubt. This is the Lord of glory, the Lord Jesus Christ. When the Lord Jesus was faced with the ‘ifs’ of Satan as recorded in Matthew 4:3, and 4:6 . . . And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. (Matthew 4:3) And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. (Matthew 4:6) Look at this deception of Satan, however, was not this also self-deception? The Almighty God was before him, for it was Christ who cast Lucifer down to the ground. Lucifer still operating in his world of pride thought that he still could exalt himself above the Most High God, the Creator of all things, and the possessor of heaven and earth. What a foolish heart, this old serpent has. He suffers from selective memory loss when it is convenient for his diabolical actions. His primary work in this world today is deception. As the devil said, If thou be the Son of God, (Matthew 4:3) If thou be the Son of God. (Matthew 4:6) The Lord combats this lie with another small word, the word ‘it.’ He uses this word in Matthew 4:4, 4:7, and 4:10. It is in combination with ‘it is written.’
It is Written
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4)
Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. (Matthew 4:7)
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. (Matthew 4:10)
The Lord of glory (who is the Living Word of God) refers Satan to the written word of God. Three times the Lord Jesus rebuked the devil with Christ’s own inspired word; three times: line upon line, precept upon precept, and now if Satan is bold and brash enough to try his diabolical shrill on the Son of God, how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation. (Hebrews 2) It is well for everyone to examine their own salvation, not to doubt, but to edify the wonder of this marvel of the grace of God. The miracle of our new birth, and our new creation: all this was because and through the work of the cross. What was accomplished cannot be undone.
It is not ‘if’ thou has taken sin away, but it is written – For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
It is written:Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:(Galatians 3:13)
It is written: For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:(1Peter 2:21) Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: (1Peter 2:22) Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: (1Peter 2:23) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (1Peter 2:24)
It is written: And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. (1 John 3:5)
It is written: He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (1 John 5:12)
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:13)
The phrase ‘It is written’ is mentioned 80 times in Scripture, this would be a good study outline.
New Order of Creation
Those who believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ have been moved into a new orb of creation. They live in a new venue; this venue is the love of God. Christ has accomplished all that was needed to give them eternal life, and an eternal being in this new order of creation. In Hebrews 6:6, the devil and his ministers are up to their old tricks. Remember, the word on their forehead is ‘DECEPTION.’ They are busy every day attempting to deceive, not only the world, but ‘if it were possible,’ the very elect of God. Which we know (according to Hebrews 6:4) that it is impossible for those who were once enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost. The impossible has been accomplished on the cross. The Son of God through the determinate counsels of God, yes, it is written, He has called out a generation for Himself. (Matthew 1:1)
The devil and his ministers have worn out this little word, ‘if.’ They try with this little word to overthrow the word ‘impossible.’ How can this be? They try to move eternal salvation to the doorstep of doubt. This plays to the heart and the spirit of the mere professor of faith. For the mere professors of faith have no reality of the Spirit of Christ within. They have no understanding of this indwelling power that comes from the Spirit of God. The evils and wickedness of Satan and his ministers upset the unbelieving heart of the mere professor. Satan likes to keep them dangling over the fires of hell. You see the mind of Adam (that is the natural man) is not capable of divine thought. There is no reality of divine possession for unregenerate man still lives in a world of sin. He has never been transformed from life to death, and death to life.
The Law of First Mention
There is a proper order of the word ‘if,’ and as usual the first mention of a word gives us an idea how it applies to man, and how it reveals the mind of God. The first mention of a word lays the groundwork of the meaning and its application: it builds an understanding as a word thread throughout Scripture. The first mention of the word ‘if’ is found in Genesis 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. The word ‘if’ is first used by God Himself. He used it in regard to the transgression of Cain. In Genesis 4:7, the word ‘if’ is used twice as a complete witness against Cain’s transgression and Cain’s enmity against God. The question before us (in Genesis 4:7) is the sin of Cain. The desire of God is well doing, or obedience. If one is obedient then he is accepted, but if one is not obedient then sin lieth at the door. This plays right into the hands of the ministers of Satan in Hebrews 6:6. Here the evils of Satan and his ministers are trampling underfoot the blood of Christ. This is an unholy act of the deception and wickedness against the Son of God.
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (Hebrews 10:27) He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:(Hebrews 10:28) Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? (Hebrews 10:29)
The Doubt Card
Consider the deceivers of Satan, they are a host under Satan’s direction. They also would have despised the law of Moses. Now, they try to undo the sovereign act of the sacrifice of Christ on the cross of Calvary. These deceivers are under a greater punishment and truly like Cain, sin lieth at the door. In 2017 we have whole systems playing this doubt card. They love to concentrate on this little word ‘if,’ when in reality it is impossible for a member in the body of Christ to be removed. We have not become a member of an organization, we have not become a member of a church group, we have been brought into a new creation under the sovereign hand of Jesus Christ. Why is it impossible for a child of God to fall away? It is simple, there is no divine surgeon to remove them.
Because — it is written
A member of the body of Christ, however, has a divine Priest after the order and oath of Melchisedec to keep him because — it is written.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. (Romans 8:37) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, (Romans 8:38) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:39)
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. (Hebrews 4:14) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
The throne of grace draws us from an earthly existence to a heavenly man. He is the supernatural Man above, His realm of heaven is superior to the realm of earth. He has called out of the earth a people for Himself, and He is the One who filleth all in all. How many times in the history of the church have you heard from the beginning with Paul that the body of Christ is an organism of faith. It is NOT a building, NOR a membership card, the believer becomes a part of a living spiritual organism upon belief of Jesus Christ. In this transformation, one is no more a member of Adam’s race, but now belongs to a new race, a supernatural race in Jesus Christ. The newborn has received this new life by faith, which is a substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The Spirit of God describes to us in Hebrews 11:1 a supernatural substance, a real creation that is made tangible in every believer by the faith of the Son of God. Take a deep breath . . . do you see the air? no, but you feel it pass through your lungs. So is the Spirit of God, when the two men on the road to Emmaus remembered the words of the Lord Jesus Christ, they could only say, Did not our heart burn within us. (Luke 24:32) Thus the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of the Son of God, witnesses within the new creation in Christ. The witness of the Holy Spirit is to give assurance to the newborn. Man cannot take away this assurance. For the newborn babe finds their place (like Mary) at the feet of the Lord Jesus Christ. For He is our Creator, and He is also the Creator of all things.
In Chapter 6, verse 6 of the book of Hebrews, we have the number of man (6) twice (6:6), and this is the realm of man: to deny God’s Christ. Those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ are well aware of their own impossibilities. For they are within the Person of Christ, and Christ is within them. This is the witness of God the Holy Spirit linking us to the Man in heaven. The Man in heaven reaches down to us to bring heaven to our heart, soul, and spirit. The witness of the frailty of mankind, the natural man in Adam is a doubter, and if we follow the history of mankind linked to his boss, Satan, we find that man is also a destroyer, and is being destroyed because of sin. This is the darkness that has permeated his soul after the fall. Although man is a destroyer, Satan is the master of many destroyers; therefore, God sent His Son to destroy that which had destroyed man. When the Lord was baptized, He was seeking to fulfill all righteousness which would have its conclusion in His death upon the cross of Calvary. When Adam transgressed, the world was upset (a physical and spiritual upheaval), and righteousness was upset, or overthrown. It was overthrown by sin, and now sin had dominion over mankind, and sin proved its dominion by the death of Adam and all his descendants. Christ destroyed sin by taking it out of the way and nailing it to His cross. What was nailed on the cross? It was the righteousness of God against the sin of mankind. Only the righteousness of God could destroy sin in the flesh and break the dominion of death. The new creature in Christ has been set free from the law of sin and death — because — it is written. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)
To understand the complete transaction and the full glory that Christ had received, one must see the totality of His death upon the cross of Calvary. One must see the absolute fullness of His resurrection, and one must see all power in heaven and earth ascended up to heaven and sat down upon His throne. It is the Living Christ who has all power in heaven and earth. And it is in this power that He takes possession of the new creation. Each and every believer is a member of the creation of Christ. The earthly body becomes dead, and the heavenly body is made alive; yet this life in its fullness is not fully realized until we are united with Christ in heaven’s glory. This body (which is the spiritual being) is made righteousness in the Lord Jesus Christ. This righteousness has given the new creation a freedom from sin, death, and hell by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus The new creature in Christ has been set free from the law of sin and death — because — it is written. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (Romans 8:10)
Side Note: The other day as I was leaving a building supply store with a load of fence boards, I encountered a man taking a picture (with his smart phone) of the writing that I had on the back window of the topper of my 1993 pickup truck. The phrase that had drawn his attention was, ‘Everyone seems to be worried about global warming, and no one seems to be worried about hell fire.’ Under this phrase is the verse found in Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near. The reason I bring this up is that we started a conversation, and he stated that he was a Christian, however, he was very worried about the flesh. He had been convinced by the presbytery (and others) that he had no power over the flesh. I informed him that He who was within him had greater power than all the earth and all heaven. And that he needed to call on that power and defeat his flesh and the works of his flesh, because — that it is written: For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) He seemed to be relieved when we parted (let me rephrase this, since many people seem relieved when I leave ) he seemed to be at peace with himself when we shook hands. Once again, a man was living by ‘if’ and not with the complete reality of Christ in his life because — that it is written But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (Romans 8:11) Not only has the Lord Jesus freed us from sin, but we have the presence of the Spirit of God within us witnessing to us in the fullness of the Godhead bodily. ♦ End of Side Note.
Because — it is written
Think of what this verse in Romans 8:11 holds: it is the Spirit of Him who raised up Jesus. In Romans 1, we are told that it is God the Father and the eternal Spirit Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; (Romans 1:3) And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: (Romans 1:4)
In verse 3 of Romans 1, we have the witness of the Father in the phrase, Concerning his Son, as there is only one Son, there is only one Father. In verse 4, we have the Lord Jesus declared to be the Son of God with power, and here we find that the Spirit of God, the Spirit of holiness was involved in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. After His resurrection, He made the declaration to His disciples that all power had been given to Him in both heaven and earth. Christ was raised with power by the Spirit of holiness, and that power was determined by Christ’s power over death. He had the power to lay His life down, and He had the power to take it again by the Spirit of holiness; which brings ALL three in the divinity to the fullness of the Godhead bodily. In Romans 8:11 we have the fullness of the same Spirit within us. It is the One who has all power who sent the Holy Spirit to be a Comforter, to lead us into all truth, and to divinely keep us by the same Spirit of holiness who raised Christ from the dead. This brings us to the fullness of the Godhead bodily. We address God as Father, we are given life by His Son, and we are kept in that life by the Holy Spirit of God.
Because — it is written
This wonder takes us back to John 3:8, The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. This is the moving of the Spirit of God. He has brought us to Christ to give us freedom in Christ. He has transformed us from death to life, but the wind is not seen, it is felt. The wind blows hard in the new creation, in the new birth, however, with the newborn babe the Spirit of God moves gently in the child of God. Now He delivers to the child of God the peaceable fruit of salvation. And He (the Spirit of God) gives us a witness within ourselves of His presence. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: (Romans 8:16) The Spirit of God within us removes us from the world. He sets us in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. In John 3:8, the world is ignorant of the Spirit of God, they know not this Person, they know not His shape, they know not the power of this divine Being. And by His witness within us we KNOW that we are not of the world. We KNOW that we are spirit, and so we act as a spiritual being born of God, a new creation to glorify the Son of God, Jesus Christ. As the wind blows, and cannot be seen, so everyone who is born again has His witness, the Spirit’s witness within. The last line of John 3:8 is so important: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Why is this line so important to us? Because we are born of that Spirit, and because the Spirit of Christ is within us. Romans 8 is the fulfillment of the Spirit within us. Every pulse of the Spirit flows through and in Romans 8. If we spend time in Romans 8, we will see the wonder of both our Savior and the work of the Spirit of God within us. Romans 8 should be the bridle that directs us, like a bridle directs a horse we should be sensitive to the pulling and the will of the Spirit of God in our lives. We live with the Spirit of life, it is not the spirit of this earth or of Adam, but the Spirit of Christ Himself. With His Spirit we groan with the whole creation, waiting for the final conclusion and the final glorification of Jesus Christ.
For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. (Romans 8:22) And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. (Romans 8:23)
We wait patiently for the redemption of our body, a glorious body made after the fashion of Christ Himself. We can boldly, and with the authority of the Scriptures, proclaim that Christ dwelleth in me. It is the Man in heaven who has hold on me, and He with all divine power will never let me go because — it is written: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10:28) My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. (John 10:29)
Yea, hath God said — Ye shall not surely die
Let us examine the doubter: Satan himself, and his ministers. He, the great deceiver, has deceived his own ministers, and they in turn have deceived themselves. When they attack the Son of God they attack His sovereignty, they try to nullify the power that the Son of God possesses. They display their belief in a weak Christ who is not able to save and to keep. They use the same lie and the same game that Satan played with Adam and Eve. These ministers of Satan declare, Yea, hath God said? And then they boldly say to those who have no life, and ye shall not surely die. This is his tack of deception.
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? (Genesis 3:1)
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: (Genesis 3:4)
The devil stressed that God was going to wink at sin and trespass; he was/and still is deceiving mankind to believe that they will still live through the worthless phrase, Ye shall not surely die. Like many today who deceive by stating, Let me show you another way to heaven without Christ. This is the same lie that the devil told Adam and Eve. Ye shall not surely die has been proven to be a lie for all the descendants of Adam have met their graves and their dust. Satan did not and does not have the power of life, God had proclaimed that disobedience to His word would bring death, and that they shalt surely die, but Satan is rebutting God’s claim. As Satan’s fall had proven iniquity was found in him.
We have the same deception today, how many times have you heard the words, ‘nominal Christian.’ You cannot be a Christian in name only!! There is no such thing! Just as there is nothing nominal about Christ, there is nothing nominal about a born-again believer. If we take this ground of evangelism and belief, why have a man saved at all? If man remains the same, then he is still under sin. Sin must be removed, and the glorious work of Christ be held, it is now the work of the Holy Spirit of God magnifying the glory of Christ within the newborn babe. Have you ever noticed that these so-called nominal Christians want to be convinced over and over that they are saved. This is impossible. We have these same men of doubt preaching a worthless salvation with no eternal results. They do not believe; this is the work of the old serpent the devil. These individuals continually bring their victims to the tree of good and evil, and they deceive them with the same satanic lie, Ye shall not surely die. It worked on Adam and Eve, so it is still in the devil’s bag of tricks. This declaration is his favorite tool, however, when Satan is involved doubt is the only thing he leaves behind. Notice that in the temptation of the Lord, when the devil used the word ‘if,’ Satan was trying to deceive his very Creator. (Matthew 4 and Luke 4) The Lord rebuked the devil three times as the old serpent even tried the word of God in Matthew 4 and Luke 4. He used the same words as the Lord Jesus used: it is written. Yes, Satan can quote Scripture, he can quote, twist and yes, he can even translate, in fact, he has a few published translations, or I should say mistranslations, or corrupt translations.
And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. (Matthew 4:6)
For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: (Luke 4:10) And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. (Luke 4:11)
This would have been a grand victory if Satan could have overthrown God with God’s own words. What a victory that would be. However, as the Scriptures have proven the devil is only a fallen angel created of God and under God’s judgment. Consequently, with his lack of power Satan left the Lord Jesus, and the angels came to minister to their Creator and God. This is the wonder: Christ was tempted in all parts like as we are, yet, without sin. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15)
Because — it is written
This is divine life: that He, the Lord Jesus Christ, was without sin. The Holy Spirit witnesses to this absolute: that He was not only without sin but did not sin. Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: (1 Peter 2:22) And the witness becomes greater, for He also knew no sin. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21) The apostle John draws all three of these Scriptures together and gives us the grand conclusion in 1 John 3:5: in Him (speaking of the Lord Jesus) WAS NO SIN.
And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. These verses show the undisputable qualifications of the Son of God. The apostle Paul gives us a further witness of the Man in heaven for us because — it is written in Hebrews, Chapter 7, verse 26. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; The verse is speaking of the resurrected Christ with all power of heaven and earth, of the ascended Christ as the Priest forever after the order of Melchisedec. We have such a High Priest who is holy, who is harmless, who is undefiled, who is separate from sinners, these are the qualifications that placed Christ higher than the heavens. Do you want to listen to the lies of the devil, or do you desire to have confidence in the Spirit of God through the testimony of the undisputable eternal word of God? The Scriptures show a sinless God and Creator to bring assurance to His mighty power over sin and death and the works of the devil. The Lord Jesus was here, was sent to destroy sin, to destroy death, and destroy the works of the devil, and this He accomplished on the cross of Calvary. The ministers of Satan try to remove His accomplishments, they throw mud at the Christ of God in their suggestions that it was possible or even that He could sin. They will lie about His sovereignty and the divine counsels of God. They will remove words from Scripture to deceive the lost souls of men. They have no trouble or conscience of trampling underfoot the blood of Christ nor do they care about alienating the Spirit of God from the souls of men.
We should all be profoundly taken by the return of the Lord Jesus with great power. The profound fact is this: that they will ask Him, What are these wounds in thy hands? and He will tell them, these are the wounds that I received in the house of my friends. And [one] shall say unto him, What [are] these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, [Those] with which I was wounded [in] the house of my friends. (Zechariah 13:6) When someone states that there is a blemish on the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, they don’t understand the God of creation, or His revelation to them. They don’t understand the worth of the sacrifice, and that sacrifice upon the cross. Salvation can only be proclaimed in the soul of a person, why do the ministers of doubt get annoyed at the very truth of God? They preach another gospel with no Scriptural power and no witness of the Spirit. With their declaration of faith, the work of God has to have outward evidence, but the outward evidence does not have to have the inward evidence of the ministry of the Holy Spirit of God. The ministry of Jannes and Jambres lasted for a little while, but in the end their ministry did not save the people of Egypt. Only the blood of the Lamb would do, only the blood of the Lamb had the power, only the blood of the Lamb could deliver. In the present evil world around us, this is the reality of where we live, the proud waves of doubt are everywhere; yet, the Lord says to His own in His protection of them, He states, Thus far and no further. The Lord of glory has set before us an open door that no man can shut. I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. (Revelation 3:8)
The Door — it is written
This door is the word of God. The word of God is the answer to all doubt; for it is the word of God that is quick and powerful. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) The anchor of the soul is the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ, the endless chain that holds that anchor is the written word of God. For like Christ, they are both anchored in heaven forever because — it is written in Psalm 119:89) LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
Because — it is written — it is impossible
Now with all this confidence and assurance we have in the Lord Jesus Christ and His eternal word let us return to Hebrews, Chapter 6, verse 4 and 5. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come.
We have the word ‘impossible’ this word reigns over the list of assurances given to the children of God in the things that they possess in Christ. And this word ‘impossible’ brings out the immutability of God’s word in verse 18 of Chapter 6, That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.
It is impossible for God to lie, it is the immutability of God’s word: meaning nothing, or no one can diminish the value, the power, and the result of God’s word. It is impossible for God to lie, and it is impossible for a new creation in Christ Jesus to fall away from its birthright. It is impossible for a new creation that is free from sin to renew them again unto repentance for Christ was once crucified and will not be crucified again by this evil world. God the Father (who declared the Lord Jesus His beloved Son in whom He is well pleased) will not allow the devil or the ministers of Satan, or the world under Adam to put the Lord Jesus to an open shame. God will expose these evil beings for what they are: lies and liars of the devil. I will repeat that their final judgment will be their casting out into utter darkness where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth. Their final message will be wailing for they have trampled underfoot and done despite to the Spirit of grace. (Hebrews 10:28, 29)
Because — it is written
From Abel to Moses, from Moses to John the Baptist faith was in the world, but in the fullness of time God sent His Son who is the fullness of faith, the fullness of grace, and the fullness of truth. God sent His Son to be the sacrifice for sin that He would deliver by faith those who were in darkness. It took this great light to reveal the truth in this world of darkness. This was the Christ of God, He and He alone has the power to deliver from sin and death, for He alone, has the keys of hell and death. The hand of eternity belongs to the God of eternity, Jesus Christ. IF you belong to Him, He will never let you go for in you is the Spirit of the living God — feel the gentle breeze of the Spirit of grace. (John 3:8) Amen.
