This Ethiopian eunuch (Ebedmelech) who had no hope in progeny, nor in any future blood lineage was in fact symbolic of a future hope for the land of his birth. He was the first Ethiopian presented as being of the faithful generation of God. Ebedmelech lived through the meaning of his name. His name means, ‘a servant of a king,’ and ‘a servant of the king.’ He was a servant of a king, king Zedekiah, and he was a servant of THE KING: The Lord Jesus Christ, the express image of God, King over all the earth (Psalm 47:2), and the King of Israel (Isaiah 44:6; John 1:49).
