Giants in the Earth

Part xiv

Goliath

I suggest that you start at the beginning if you have never been to this site or series before. Since this is an on going series you will be totally lost unless you play catch up (or maybe not ).

http://thegenesisepic.com/giants-in-the-earth-part-i/

We have finally come to the last of the five sons from the giant of Gath: Goliath. Although Goliath was the first of this family of giants killed, I chose to save him for the last in this particular series of the sons of the giant in Gath.

As I begin Part xiv, I am not sure where I will end, nor am I centered on the journey before me. Only the Spirit knows! Of course . . . I am praying . . . so much information, so much to teach . . . so many lessons to learn . . .

Six times the name of Goliath is recorded in Scripture. (1 Samuel 17:4, 23; 21:9; 22:10; 2nd Samiel 21:19; 1 Chronicles 20:5) Exile, captive, and stripped are associated with the meaning of the name of Goliath. Twice he is referred to as a “champion” of the Philistines. Twice he is connected to the headquarters of the city of this particular family and tribe of giants in Gath. Goliath is known even among those who are scripturally ignorant.

The name of the city of Gath means ‘winepress.’ Let us deal with Gath, the winepress, which denotes an activity of pressing or forcing the wine from the grapes by treading or pounding by foot. Scripture ties the winepress to judgment. There are 14 verses with the word ‘winepress,’ and this word is mentioned 15 times. (Isaiah 63:3) (Matthew 21:33) (Revelation 14:19, 20) (Revelation 19:15)

Six — Exiled — Captive — Stripped — Winepress

The Holy Spirit of God has set the journey before us in these words: six, exiled, captive, stripped and winepress. The name of our giant, and his city points us back to the very beginning of ALL giants: Cain.

Six

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Genesis 1:31) The sixth day is the number of man. Man was not the only creation of the sixth day, but the serpent was also created on the sixth day.

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? (Genesis 3:1)

And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: (Genesis 3:14)

The number six is imprinted on mankind. Most people connect the number 6 – 6 – 6 with the embodiment of the fullness of sin in this number, but many cannot connect the dots of the six’s in Scripture from the first mention to the last mention. Yes, our father, Adam, was created on the sixth day, His DNA is implanted within all of mankind, even his DNA of sin. As you come across this number in the Bible look at the sin element within man referenced in the verse. The number six  is also connected to rebellion. (I suggest that you follow the connected links placed for you in this article. It will add to your understanding of the article.)

The 6th chapter of the Book of Genesis is the documentation of man in his total sin, his inherent sin, and his sin of rebellion against God. In the number six, we have a number that is capable of division, and again this number draws a picture of what man is, divided within himself, and divided from God. A double minded man [is] unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8) Man is marked by the number 6, as we could say, it is stamped on his forehead. It will be stamped on man’s very being, the one who is the completeness of all evil, the one who completes the number 6 (the trinity of evil in the number 6-6-6), the Anti-Christ in Revelation, chapter 13 will cause all to bear a mark, his mark and his number. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: (Revelation 13:16)

Yes man is marked by the number 6. He is marked by time, 60 seconds, 60 minutes, and mankind was commanded to work by the sweat of his brow 6 days a week. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return. (Genesis 3:19)

Another interesting point of our number is that Noah was 600 years old at the time of the flood. In the 600 we have 6 x 100, or 6 x 10 x 10, the number 10  is the divine order of God in His perfection; it is the beginning of the double digits and is the completion of single digits. (I do not want to go into 10 at this time). In the 600 we have the completion and perfect timing of man, he has reached the complete end of his corruption and God witnesses to this in the two (witness), and 10’s (God’s perfect order). Also in six, in the line or genealogy of Cain (the first child born, and the first murderer) there are only six generations recorded, and then God stopped documenting this evil line.

Goliath is an example of this number personified. He and his family are forever branded by the Holy Spirit of God with the number 6, as the final giant is branded with the number 6 – 6 – 6. Chapter 17 in 1st Samuel, verses 4 and 7, directly refer to Goliath.

The reference in 2nd Samuel Chapter 21, verse 20 shows the family trademark, or the family resemblance in the description of one of Goliaths brothers. Chapter 20, verse 6 of 1st Chronicles is a repeated reference to 2nd Samuel 21:20. This is a significant repeat in that it reinforces the message of an extra digit on each hand, and on each foot. What is considered to be a physical normal human make up is now, however, through the added digits revealing to us a spiritual lesson through a physical deformity. This takes us again back to the original giant: Cain. God marked Cain with unnatural growth that separated him from the rest of humanity.  Sin is the same thing, as it grows and flourishes within an individual it acts as a deforming agent that warps the mind, corrupts the spirit, tortures the body, and destroys the soul. By having six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot does not make anyone perform better, or walk better, or work better, but spiritually it is a perfect type of the natural man (6) attempting to overthrow the grace of God (5) through adding to the work and walk of one’s own belief on how to approach a righteous and holy God. As six (6 – the natural man) wants to become seven (7- the perfection of God), six (6) also wants to remove the grace of God (5) and replace it with the desires and treasures of the world (4). So here is natural man in sin sitting between 5 and 7, between God’s grace and God’s perfection, and by corrupting the body with every sin of the world that can be piled on, instead of accepting God’s grace and mercy and acknowledging the perfection and greatness of God, the natural man increases his sin, adds to his sin, doubles down in his sin, he works harder to sin greater, and  he walks swiftly to sin farther: this is the giant known as Cain, this is the giant known as Goliath, this is the giant known as the man of sin, the man who will be the manifestation of the fulfillment of pure evil: 6 – 6 – 6.

And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. (1Samuel 17:4)

And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him. (1Samuel 17:7)

And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant. (2nd Samuel 21:20)

And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot: and he also was the son of the giant. (1st Chronicles 20:6)

Goliath is one of many in Scripture whom God used as an example of the uncontrollable growth of rebellion and sin against the Almighty God.

Exiled — Stripped — Captive

The Original Giant of the Unseen Spiritual Realm – Lucifer

When Adam sinned, his glory was removed (he no longer was clothed with the righteousness of His God and Creator) and he became a being exposed with a new nature: a sin nature made captive and a slave to sin, and hopelessly seeking to cloth himself to cover his sin.

As Adam was banished from the Garden of Eden, so also, Lucifer was banished from the realm of the holies in the heavenlies when he sinned. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! (Isaiah 14:12) The Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ stated of Satan in the gospel of Luke, Chapter 10, verse 18, And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. (Luke 10:18)

The glory that Lucifer had been wrapped in was stripped from him, as it had also been stripped from Adam and Eve. In the Garden of Eden, the vocal serpent (formerly known as Lucifer) had been transformed from a beast that spoke (and which had tempted Eve) into a speechless dust bound crawling serpent. How the mighty has fallen! As Lucifer fell and lost everything he was, and everything that he would ever be, so also, Adam fell and he too lost everything he was and everything that he would ever be.

Lucifer was violently exiled from the realm of God’s sanctuaries; he was stripped of his beauty, wisdom and brightness; and in becoming a captive to his own sin and iniquities his one main motivation is not only to acquire that which he lost, but to have to all — to be god.

THE CONDITION AND STATE OF LUCIFER

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! (Isaiah 14:12)

And he (The Lord Jesus Christ) said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. (Luke 10:18)

Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. (Ezekiel 28:17) Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. (Ezekiel 28:18)

THE CONDITION AND STATE OF MANKIND

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. (Romans 7:18)

For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.(Romans 7:19)

Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. (Romans 7:20)

I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. (Romans 7:21)

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: (Romans 7:22)

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. (Romans 7:23)

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? (Romans 7:24)

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. (Romans 7:25)

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh [himself] with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth [herself] with her jewels. (Isaiah 61:10)

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (2 Corinthians 5:1)

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: (2 Corinthians 5:2)

If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. (2 Corinthians 5:3)

For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. (2 Corinthians 5:4)

And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. (Romans 8:23)

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. (Revelation 3:18)

And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (Revelation 19:13) And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (Revelation 19:14)

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. (Revelation 19:7) And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. (Revelation 19:8)

Mankind can never recover what he was originally, nor can he return to the first state that he was created in. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? (Romans 7:24) The old man is forever gone, and man MUST be born again!

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3)

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? (John 3:4)

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (John 3:5)

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3:6)

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (John 3:7)

The Original Giant of the Seen or Natural Realm – Cain

The name of our giant Goliath points us back to the very beginning of ALL giants: Cain. Understanding future events and current issues is based on two fundamental points: the revelation of God, and the understanding of Scripture; all things have a beginning, and the knowledge of the beginnings instructs us in the things of the holy.

Cain connects us to Goliath, and Goliath connects us to the Giant hiding in the shadows as the invisible Giant, the Giant that is not there. Cain was not merely exiled, but he was forced from all society. His parents (Adam and Eve) were driven out of Eden because they had contaminated their entire environment with sin. The Adam clan had become a virus of sin that not only contaminated everything that they touched, but forever and ever all of their descendants would be spreaders of sin. Mankind has become a vile DNA Petri-dish spreading sin and death.

Cain was not only exiled from the presence of his family for their protection, but he was also stripped of his connection to God. He was physically compelled to leave his mother, father, brothers, sisters, and the safety of a landscape that he could relate to as a place of comfort and refuge. He was stripped of his home, his work, his family, and most of all he was completely alienated from God his Creator. Even in this (what appears to many as a harsh punishment) God was gracious and long suffering. This was before Law, this was before Government, and this was before tribunal retribution. Cain murdered his own flesh and blood, his brother, because his brother was more righteous. Abel obeyed God. Cain disobeyed God. And Cain could not stand Abel! How dare God judge him (Cain) to be unrighteous! How dare God criticize him! The first murder was not about greed of possessions, it was not about money, it was not about drugs, it was not about status, it was an act totally based on rebellion and hatred against God. Cain was exiled, stripped and became a captive bound by his abnormal size.

Goliath

The Battle of the Ages

For your enjoyment read Chapter 17 of 1st Samuel. You read that correctly, I wrote, For your enjoyment! Enjoyment . . . how we love when the underdog wins! David has always been viewed and spoken of as the underdog; however, maybe it was Goliath who was the underdog. I kid you not! Just think of the reasoning behind this statement. Goliath thought that he was facing a smaller, younger, inexperienced, and ill-equipped opponent, but was this the reality of that battle?

Our Conflict and Weaponry

There are many conflicts and battles that all of humanity faces every day and every minute: there is the conflict of man against man, man against himself, man against God, Satan and man united against God, but within these wheels of conflict there is a fiery center, a flaming hub which holds all together and from which the burning wheels of fire generate all power: this is the main target of Satan and man: Jesus Christ (the express image of God and the manifestation of God) is the Target. For Christ is the wisdom of God and the everlasting power of God, and He is the fullness of the Godhead bodily. For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: (Colossians 1:16) And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians 1:17)

In war there are many battles. In a battle there are many warrior positions, and one single goal: to win that particular conflict. Christians erroneously develop a mind set that because they are smaller in number, they therefore are outnumbered. However, the reality of the true battle is found in the following verses:

I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. (1 John 2:14)

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. (2nd Kings 6:17)

No Christian is alone on the battlefield. Just because you do not see anyone standing with you do not assume that you are alone. Every believer has a day in the cage with Satan, but do not despair. The main battle has already been fought and won at Calvary, and the Captain of the Lord’s host IS present. We are those who fight the smaller skirmishes. When you are in combat it doesn’t appear or feel as if it is ‘small.’ Job was in a battle, it wasn’t small to him, but you see, although Job was a target, he came through it all with a stronger faith, and a humble spirit knowing that his God was Sovereign, Righteous, Holy, and faithful.

When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. (Job 22:29)

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. (James 4:6)

I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: (Job 5:8)

And [though] after my skin [worms] destroy this [body], yet in my flesh shall I see God: (Job 19:26)

There have been many battles fought and recorded for our benefit in order to follow the battle plan. The New Testament lays out not only the plan, but our spiritual equipment. God has supplied everything that we need for our daily conflicts, and for our total spiritual life deliverance, but, BUT, we do not use the equipment that God has given to us. As a young child, many years before I was saved, my grandmother required that I memorize the 6th Chapter of the book of Ephesians, and still to this day (even after my salvation) I do not utilize God’s weaponry to its fullest. All of us need to take this section of Scripture not only into our hearts, but into our daily actions because each day is a time of conflict and confrontation.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10)

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11)

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12)

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Ephesians 6:13)

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (Ephesians 6:14)

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (Ephesians 6:15)

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Ephesians 6:16)

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (Ephesians 6:17)

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Ephesians 6:18)

The Battle of the Ages Continued

Poor ole Goliath, he didn’t have a chance. He was a loser, on a losing team, with a leader who had already lost the original war: Lucifer. Poor ole Goliath, didn’t have a chance, even his gigantic size played against him. Yes, he had a huge spear, and his covering was weighted down by heavy brass. He even had some poor quacking soul go before him with a shield. Who in his right mind lets someone else carry a very important protective piece of equipment? Poor ole Goliath, slow moving, slow acting, slow thinking Goliath, he never anticipated or even thought of the possibility of a quick attack.

And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. (1 Samuel 17:4)

And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass. (1 Samuel 17:5)

And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders. (1 Samuel 17:6)

And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him. (1 Samuel 17:7)

Poor ole Goliath, arrogantly prideful in his ignorance of the power of God, and encumbered and covered with brass.

Side Note: Brass: The King James Bible has a dictionary and a thesaurus within itself.

Whenever there is a question of a meaning or word development, as a thesaurus, concerning a specific word in a scripture verse, look around that word because the Holy Spirit of God has already provided the meaning for you. Let’s examine the word ‘brass.’ In the Old Testament there are 107 verses with this word, but with a total of 122 references. In the New Testament there are 6 verses that contains the word ‘brass.’

The following reference in Isaiah 48:4 sets the spiritual meaning for us. Because I knew that thou [art] obstinate, and thy neck [is] an iron sinew, and thy brow brass. This verse in Jeremiah 6:28 gives us synonyms for the word ‘brass.’ They [are] all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: [they are] brass and iron; they [are] all corrupters. I just love how the Holy Spirit is so ahead of all teaching manuals.

In the New Testament it is not a coincidence that this word is mentioned 6 times because the Author of Scripture ties a little ribbon around the word ‘brass’ and presents it to us as a gift in a box, and informs us, through the unseen number pattern, that natural man is nothing but brass. He is obstinate, and a revolter, a slanderer and in all things mankind is corrupt.

The Law of First Mention is a strong reference and resource system as an almost invisible thread leading from the first mention to the last mention of a word with depth and understanding. For instance, let us look at the first mention of the word ‘brass.’

And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah. (Genesis 4:22) Here is the first smith recorded in Scripture. In the name of this offspring we see a reference directed back to the head of their lineage; showing, therefore, pride in Cain’s reputation and leadership. Tulbalcain was a forger of brass and iron instruments. Tubalcain was the great-great-grandson of Cain, the original earthly giant. In this we have a picture of practical inventions, but it also implies weaponry and idols. There is a two-fold meaning of his name, ‘thou wilt be wrought of Cain,’ and ‘possessed of confusion.’ ‘Possessed of confusion’ shows an unstable person, a double minded man, unsettled in words and deeds.

The civilization that Cain spawned was independent of God, although this culture revealed inventive and creative genius, it was in total opposition to God and His purposes. Later in Scripture we will see the arts and music used to glorify God, as it should be, since gifts come from God all gifts should be used to glorify God. Nevertheless, the line of Cain tried to make their existence without God tolerable; thus, recorded history in verses 19-22 in the book of Genesis Chapter 4, gives us a glimpse of a humanistic culture.

The last mention of ‘brass’ can be seen in Chapter 18 of the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ in verse 12. This Chapter is just amazing because the total destruction of the merchandising giants of deceit and evil is destroyed in just a few hours in time. The spiritual meaning within the word ‘brass’ not only comes to fruition, but it ends destructively in Revelation 18:12.

Every time you read the word ‘brass’ understand who first used brass, and for what purpose, and then remember when this word ‘brass’ is mentioned for the last time, but specifically remember the ribbon that ties it all together: it is the heart of Cain: the obstinate heart in the actions of the revolters, from the lips of the slanderers, and the corruption of all humanity outside of the saving grace and mercy of Christ in God.

I can’t move away from the word ‘brass.’ In the battle scene of David and Goliath in 1st Samuel, Chapter 17, this word ‘brass’ is recorded five times; however, it is directly tied to Goliath four times. And [he had] an helmet of brass upon his head, and he [was] armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat [was] five thousand shekels of brass. (1 Samuel 17:5) And [he had] greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders. (1 Samuel 17:5) Goliath’s head and legs were covered with brass; he was marked by a target of brass. I mean, how great are those words! A target of obstinance, revolter /rebel, slanderer and corrupter . . . isn’t the Word of God awesome! The word ‘brass’ is tied to Goliath four times because this obstinate, revolter /rebel, slanderer and corrupter represents the condition that the world wallows in. We all are acquainted with the situation that we exist in: all systems are measured by ‘brass:’ political, social, religious, propaganda protagonists, and academia — all are ‘brass.’ These all are as ‘sounding brass’ and as ‘tinkling cymbals’ braying and banging their brass drums about their own splendor, beauty, wealth and greatness. These giants of brass set themselves as targets to be idolized. Hear, O people of the world, here are your gods: the giants of brass.

Side Note: The Lord Jesus Christ is described as ‘polished brassand as ‘fine brass.’ In the book of the Revelation, His feet are described like fine brass, and in the book of Daniel His feet are compared in colour to polished brass.

And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.(Revelation 1:15)

And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet [are] like fine brass; (Revelation 2:18)

His body also [was] like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. (Daniel 10:6)

As polished brass He is ‘glistening,’ ‘gleaming,’ ‘accomplished,’ ‘smoothed,’ ‘complete,’ and ‘perfection. As fine brass He is ‘the highest standard,’ ‘absolute purity,’ ‘heavenly,’ and ‘supernal.’ The Holy Spirit again sets the contrast between mankind and the Savior of mankind through the word ‘brass.’

There is much more in the study of the word ‘brass,’ for instance: prophetically there is a kingdom of brass according to Daniel 2:39. Could we be living in the preparatory stages of the kingdom of brass, or maybe we are in the very midst of the corruption of brass: obstinate, revolters, and slanders. 2 Timothy, Chapter 3, verse 1 states: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. However, we could say that perilous times are here. Do not the following verses describe the state of the kingdom of brass?

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (2 Timothy 3:2)

Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, (2 Timothy 3:3)

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (2 Timothy 3:4)

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2 Timothy 3:5)

For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, (2 Timothy 3:6)

Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:7)

There is also another important section of Scripture with the word ‘brass’ and/or ‘brazen’ and that is the serpent of brass.  However, instead of my writing further on this particular subject I am linking you to an article written by Michael Haigh concerning ‘the serpent of brass.’-

The fifth mention of ‘brass’ is referenced in 1 Samuel 17:38, And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. Nevertheless, David refused to clothe himself with the weapons of the ungodly. The number five is grace, but how is grace seen in 1 Samuel 17:38? It was the grace of God shed on David’s heart to be discerning, to actively reject the things of the world, and to prove all things. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. (1 Samuel 17:39)

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2)

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. (1st Thessalonians 5:21) 17:39)

The Tormentor

And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days. (1st Samuel 17:16)

Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the morning news — The sky is falling. You are all going to die. The waters are going to flood the world. The weather/climate is killing the world. The plague will kill you. The sky is falling.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the evening news — The sky is falling. You are all going to die. The waters are going to flood the world. The weather/climate is killing the world. The plague will kill you. The sky is falling.

Ladies and Gentlemen: NEW BREAKING SHOCKING NEWS:  The sky is falling. You are all going to die. The waters are going to flood the world. The weather/climate is killing the world. The plague will kill you. The sky is falling.

Repeat, repeat and repeat — the same rhetoric: Listen to us, because you are all too stupid to understand. Let us tell you what to think. Let us tell you what to say. Let us tell you where to assemble. We know everything about everything. The mockers, scoffers, accusers and tormentors have been at their game for a very long time. You don’t think that Noah wasn’t tormented day and night by scoffers? All servants of God have been tormented and mocked. If the world loves you because you are a Christian, then you are doing something wrong.

Every morning and evening for forty days, the giant of propaganda (through psychological warfare) prepared his enemies. The famous cliché that if you hear a lie often enough, then you will begin to believe the lie. This is one of the platforms that tormentors employ: the repeat attack. (The main reason why the news readers of our age use this technique of the repeat strategy is because it cloaks their inability to uncover news, and it hides the absence of journalistic talent and skill.)

Forty days, twice a day — over and over again — the giant mocked the armies of Israel, but David understood the real confrontation was not about the armies of Israel it was about refusing to acknowledge God. The army didn’t belong to Saul, it didn’t belong to Israel, the army was the army of the living God.

And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together. (1st Samuel 17:10)

And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? (1st Samuel 17:26)

Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. (1st Samuel 17:45)

The main target of all antagonists has always been God. He is attacked because He is unseen. He is attacked because He was manifested and seen among men. He is attacked because within His Being is the hope of the world. He is attacked because He is no respecter of persons. He is attacked because He is Light. He is attacked because He is love. He is attacked because He is Holiness and Righteousness in all perfection. He is attacked because He is Good. He is attacked because He is GOD! There are no words to describe why God is hated! Wait, I think I found a word: SIN!

This is where poor ole Goliath didn’t have a chance. Although this tormentor would not acknowledge the living God, he was about to face the power of God in the face of what Goliath probably considered a smaller, younger, inexperienced, and an ill-equipped opponent. The power of God was the unseen reality of this battle!

Tried, tested, smaller, but experienced in the field of battle against a lion and a bear, and well equipped with a sling and a smooth stone, this young man David loudly shouted to the giant of Gath, Goliath: This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. (1 Samuel 17:46) And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands. (1 Samuel 17:47)

Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)
